First out of the mouth of Reggie then the mainstay Famitsu company hinted to it, now the well-regard importers over at Lik-Sang have written something of interest on thier site, maybe as early as January 16th? From the site:

"... here at Lik Sang too we have received word a couple of days ago from a Japanese contact stating Nintendo will have a formal announcement of the re-design on Jan 16th."
