Did GM debut the right Camaro Concept?

General Motors' CEO Rick Wagoner nixed in the eleventh-hour, pushing designers to create the concept that eventually premiered at the NAIAS earlier this month. The shots come courtesy of Detroit's own WDIV Channel 4's coverage of the show.

The studio shot glimpses revealed a couple of different design ideas that were done away with, including a significantly shorter rear deck with a fastback roofline as on the clay model. So, did GM make the right call?

World Tracker turns anyone into a cellphone spy

A UK service called World Tracker apparently uses cell tower data (or GPS, when available) to track the location of just about any GSM cellphone. Just enter the number you want to track into the service's handy Google Maps-based interface, and you'll be able to zoom in on the device's location, with accuracy somewhere between 50 and 500 meters. The first time you try to track a phone, a text message is sent to the owner, who must reply in order to enable tracking. The service is currently compatible with O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile in the UK, and has plans to expand to other markets including Germany, Spain, Norway and the US.

Once you've made some notes you can log in to MyStickies.com and see all the notes you've made and view them by tag or by site. There's also a "Sticky Page" feature that creates a blank page on MyStickies.com just for your notes.

Turn any PC into a Virtual Machine

Lindsay Donaghe got a new laptop but didn't want to lose all of the stuff her old laptop when she got a new one, so she came up with a novel solution: She turned the old one into a virtual machine. On her blog she's written a short how-to that explains how to make your old computer live inside your new one using VMWare (and, when the trial runs out, the free VMWare Player). The process is pretty straightforward but does take some effort. Make sure to check out the comments on her post for some additional tips.

Force the PSP's screen brightness to level four

With just a few flicks of your wrist, you can keep the screen brightness at level 4 even if you’re not plugged in. Basically all it entails is unplugging the handheld while the load screen and the brightness are up, and the level should lock until you disengage it via the screen button. Expect a little bit less portable gaming and video viewing time while exploiting this flaw.

Quintura is another attempt at a visual search engine. It is quite polished and well designed, and affords basic searchers the ability to refine their search results in a visual way.
