Employing aluminum construction techniques first applied to the company's Phantom sedan, the 101EX boasts similar upright lines, albeit with a cut-down greenhouse and markedly different nose treatment. The two-tone look seen above is actually an effect brought about by the brushed aluminum used on the hood and windshield header (the body is painted in 'dark tungsten'), a trick used on Rolls [very] similar 2004 Geneva convertible concept, the 100EX. When viewed in profile, the 101EX is dominated by its 21" wheels, suicide doors and a c-pillar that could secret half the Tour de France from the driver's vantage.
Word is the interior isn't just the standard forest of fine timbers, hides and turned metals, the 101EX boasts a fiber-optic laden headliner designed to replicate the stars.
Finally a Mac that is made to be used with your HDTV! Browsing through Apple's list of accessories for the new MacIntel mini reveals just what we have been waiting for. They list the various adapters DVI, HDMI, or VGA, you are all covered.
Supported by OSX MacIntel mini has a combination of the overscan adjustment built into to the display preferences. Audio was considered as well with the included SPDIF in and out so you can enjoy DD 5.1 in all it's glory.
Now all we need are HD movies via iTunes and life would be perfect. I am of course assuming that the Core Solo 1.5 is fast enough to decode H.264 HD material.
Girls and hardcore gaming meet in the Home of Chrome
Billed as the first sports academy for competitive gaming, the Home of Chrome in Sweden is a venture set up by VIA to showcase the successful female Quake 4 team g0d (girlz of destruction). We assume the plan is to combine the appeal of micro-celebrities with the universal allure of gaming (and girl gamers in particular).
It's an interesting move, and one that every pro team (or aspiring professional gamer) is looking on with envy. As the results of this experiment appear, we'll see if more sponsors decide to follow suit--as the play girlz blog points out, this is crying out for a TV show.
There is nothing like a piece of jewelry that is bold yet subtle in beauty. Emily and Ashley's Cabachon Aventurine Stone Necklace definitely fits in that category. The aventurine stone measure at 1 1/2" long and the total length of the necklace is 16". Price $713.
The genius aeg1x at Shacknews took a Flickr image of an adorable puppy, quizzically tilting his adorable head, and photoshop'd him into a giant colossus from Ueda's beautiful Shadow of the Colossus!
The colossi are tragic characters; slaying each one results in a sort of post-coital depression, the totality of your deed laid before you.
Check out the above video which shows a friendly speed run competition through Super Mario Bros. on two NES consoles. Jeff Ninneman and Jason Harmer's personal records are 5:11 and 5:09 respectively, but this video clocks them at just over 6 minutes. It's hardly a tense match (they both fool around a couple of times) but the ending is a true photo finish. It's great to compare the two NES gamer's techniques and to hear the crowd of supporters cheer as one opponent overtakes the other.
Called the Land_e, this technology concept from Land Rover is designed to showcase a suite of hybrid technologies that reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions while staying true to Land Rover's go-anywhere 4x4 mission. The "e" stands for efficiency, and is roughly the size of the current Freelander, but has a biodiesel/electric hybrid powertrain with a very intelligent powertrain management system that provides multiple modes of operation, ranging from front-wheel drive highway cruising to full on "rock crawler" 4WD.
Ford says we can expect to see the e-Terrain technologies progressively introduced in the Land Rover product line over the next few years.
Homebrew presses on: Web browser for DSLinux, Flash for PSP
This time a pair of hacker feats; some DS guys got the retawq text browser working for DSLinux, and some PSP hackers got a Flash (SWF) player running on the PSP. Of course, Opera is on the way for DS users, and Flash will only be working until Sony can figure out an excuse for another firmware upgrade, so get 'em while they're hot and oh-so-rebellious.
The Euro Civic Type-R has officially been let of out its cage, its non-turbocharged 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC engine generates about 197 horsepower of front-tire shredding fun. Even though the Type R being shown is technically a concept, expect the production version to be very similar.

RI-MAN is the latest lifestyle-support robot destined to care for Japan's elderly. The 5-foot 2-inch, 220-pound RI-MAN features plush arms and chest perched atop a wheeled base. A 5-milimeter layer of soft silicone covers 320 pressure sensors jacketing most of the upper body including the face, arms, and chest. This allows it to perform such delicate work as lifting perplexed patients into its arms where presumably it will whisper little “coo-coo” sounds.
JVC's SU-DH1 brings surround sound to any headphones, almost
JVC has announced the SU-DH1 headphone surround adapter which pumps a “pseudo” 5.1 surround signal out ordinary headphones. It features an optical mini-jack in and standard mini-jack out with support for Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS, MPEG-2 AAC, PCM and contains Dolby Pro Logic II Auto/Movie/Music for extending any non-5.1 stereo audio signal into a virtual 5.1. Hey, the specs are great and all, and this is JVC, but why don’t they bundle this with 5.1 headphones like Thrustmaster or LTB Audio does for that "true" 5.1 surround sound we crave. Afterall, there's better ways for less money than the estimated $90 green JVC will demand in March when it drops.
