Geneva: Porsche 911 Turbo & Porsche 911 GT3

The 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo, combines the newly updated and optional 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission, all-wheel-drive 911 Turbo will accelerate from a standing start to 60 mph in only 3.4 seconds. The impressive performance is due to close integration of the variable turbine geometry (VTG) system, the updated Tiptronic S transmission, and the new electronically controlled all-wheel- drive system.

Porsche's new 2007 911 GT3 sports coupe features an active suspension setup tuned for the track, and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Serving as the homologation basis for Porsche's 911 GT3 RSR racecar, the 911 GT3 provides enthusiasts with an uncompromising road car that can easily transition to weekend track-day outings. The 415-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat- Six engine produces a specific output of 115.3 horsepower-per-liter, among the highest of any naturally aspirated production car. The Boxer engine's power peak is reached at 7,600 rpm, on the way to an 8,400 rpm redline -- 200 rpm beyond the previous GT3 model. The 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 will be available in North America beginning in August 2006. U.S. pricing for the new model is $106,000.

Japanese gamers and the DS Lite

Reports are coming in that initial sales of the DS Lite in Japan have been extremely high, selling out in many stores even before doors opened. Attempting to secure a DS Lite at Japanese retail outlets, IGN writes: "With the Japanese DS Lite launch on Thursday morning, 3/2, Nintendo has embraced launch carnage like the good old days of Super Famicom and N64. Forget about selling out minutes after opening -- the DS Lite was sold out hours before opening time at every retailer IGN was able to visit."

Though initial sales figures have yet to be released, Nintendo announced plans to ship over 450,000 DS Lite units and 200,000 original DS units during the month of March.

As a result this is what happens when the first born child learns to deal with a new baby in the family. The original DS is no different.

Here's some more pics in the trenches for the DSLite.

And because it's Korean, they also slap in a DMB-module for that mobile digital TV chill.

I Hate Clowns

Unfortunately, you're going to need one of those wacky plug-ins to play this game. But, I Hate Clowns is a simple game: throw metal pie plates at ragdoll clowns as they fly through the air. The plug-in is Virtools Web Player, which is only for Windows. But if you read the story of I Hate Clowns here, you'll realize why they chose that plug-in. The game was merely an exercise, and the development platform was an easy target. I mean, it took less than 10 hours to make this.

Sony HDR-HC3 HD camcorder reviewed

Sony's HDR-HC3 high definition camcorder just got the once over by the IDG crew in Tokyo. Remember, this is a consumer-based device that is both lighter, smaller, in fact, it's compact enough now, that it fits in a coat pocket or bag without weighing the reviewer down. IDG was impressed by their ability to shoot at better quality than the "majority of broadcast TV" fed into their HDTV setup. Controlling the camera could be a bit difficult, especially if held at chest-height. And the lack of feedback on the manual focus thumbwheel meant they kept the device in auto-mode most of the time. Bottom line: IDG calls the HC3 the "best camcorder at present" for consumers looking to get into High-Def home video. So now you just have to collect $1700 before these drop next month.

Manga-inspired robot works in Japanese airport

The Japanese manga Galaxy Express 999, is clearly still pretty popular in Japan, and the blonde-tressed Maetel has been given life as a robot, and is working in Kita-Kyushu, the hometown of the comic's creator, Leiji Matsumoto. Of course, the robotic Maetel might have gotten something of a raw deal: instead of traveling through space on an intergalactic train like her fictional alter ego, she's earthbound, working as the receptionist in Kita-Kyushu's airport.

Eclipse AVN6600 puts two DVD players in your dash

The Eclipse AVN6600 not only puts two DVD players front-and-center in your ride, but also includes an integrated GPS unit with a 6.5-inch display. The idea is that one DVD player can be dedicated to serving up maps for the GPS, while the second one can be used for audio. And since the DVD player is MP3 and WMA compatible, that's a lot of audio. The second player can also drive a rear-seat video display. Of course, you could also use the nav display for DVD video and skip the GPS, but that could interfere just a little bit with your driving, and yes it'll work with your iPod.
