 A company called Helio is talking about offering MySpace phones. Providers will sell the phones to users, who will then be able to read and post wherever they go. No word on whether or not the phone will strip out crappy HTML and CSS, eye-scalding animated GIF's, or confusing background/text combos. Details are pretty scarce, but it's just another sign of the impending MySpace apocolypse. Actually BetaNews has what little I've read, and they mention phones named "Hero" and "Kickflip." Helio's website shows a Sidekick-esque phone, and you'll be able to post pics too. The PDF press release from Helio is here. Internetnews has some details, including the tip that Myspace info will be specially tweaked to appear on the phones. So I guess that means stripping out some stuff.

Windows emulation on Mactels with Q
 This Q project looks promising, it is a Cocoa port of QEMU, but looks so much like VPC though I hope they don't get the legal smackdown. It's easier to be able to emulate than have to dual-boot, so let's hope this, and the potential of a WINE port that really works on OS X could be just around the corner. Linux, Windows running in a virtualized environment would be nice. There's still no word as to whether Virtual PC will run on Intel Macs any time soon. Read more..!

MIT researchers invent new hybrid car battery
 Researchers at MIT have announced the development of a new car battery technology that allows for 10-minute charging and discharging. Known as a lithium nickel manganese oxide battery, it is being touted as an alternative to the current technology used in hybrids, nickel metal hydride. The MIT scientists were able to achieve the rapid charging by synthesizing a material with a more orderly structure than regular lithium nickel manganese oxide, which usually impedes the necessary flow of lithium ions. Besides cars, other potential uses for the new battery include tools, bikes/scooters, and serving as a backup for green energy sources. Read more..!
 The OSx86 Project announced a "Patch Solution" to the current-at-the-time OS X for Intel followed by an OSx86 forum post detailing the steps to install the same OS from the System Restore DVD. Big news since that release presumably exposed Apple's best attempts at locking the OS to the hardware. Rather than waiting for the hacks to get all dolled-up as a torrented OS X installer for any x86 box, Apple unleashed the DMCA goons who have effectively shut down the OSx86 Project's forums -- the stage where the likes of Maxxuss danced around OS X security and kicked out a chorus of hacks.  It looks like ATI decided they'd do a little cover up. They've started to remove references to HDCP readiness in their online product spec sheets, while it's still clear from retailer information and cached versions of the pages that they once proclaimed "HDCP ready" loud and proud. No telling how this will all go down, and we can't pretend to hope that ATI will be shipping all boxes with new HDCP graphics cards. Read more..!
