Geneva: Alfa Romeo Diva

The concept that showed up in Geneva is dubbed the ‘Diva’ and attracted a lot of attention. While the Diva carries styling cues from Alfa of old, it has a decidedly F1-esque nose that manages to integrate Alfa’s trademark face. Not much is known about the gull-winged concept except that it's midengined and based on a heavily modified 157 chassis.

SPIDER-MAN Black Suit and a glimpse of VENOM

An official Black Suit image/maybe poster/piece of art hit the net awhile ago, the composition, mood and pose is great.

The only difference is the net detail carried over from the movies suit; Spidey Black never had those web ribbings in it, so a fan altered it alittle.

Another fan over at superherohype boards forums has posted his take on what the new spiderman 3 trailer could look and even gives a glimpse of what Venom could turn out to look as. Here's his trailer.

Here's his gif.

A sneak peek at the Firefox 2.0 UI

"The default [user interface] of Firefox has not been altered since the launch of Firefox 1.0. It would be presumptuous to assume that the way in which users interact with their browsers has gone unchanged between that time and our planned 3Q2006 release date for [Firefox 2.0], and even more presumptuous for us to assume that we got things 100% right with Firefox 1.0." That's how Mozilla's Mike Beltzner starts a post to the Firefox development newsgroup in which he describes the changes he and his fellow developers have in mind for the next major release of Firefox. In his post he includes an interesting (and kinda retro) ASCII mock-up that displays some of the proposed changes, like moving the Go, Reload and RSS buttons inside the URL bar to better show their relationship to the current page, moving the Home button and bookmarks search into the personal bookmark toolbar, and so on.

OLPC $100 laptop shown in final form?

According to Martin Varsavsky, who has recently met with project head Nicholas Negroponte, the pictures above are of the "winning design." Not quite sure what he means by that, and not even sure which one of the designs is supposedly destined for production, or if all are, but they do match up fairly well to most of the $100 laptop specs. Also unclear is whether the fabled hand crank is present on either design.

Fido luggage is traveler's best friend

The idea behind Fido Luggage, a product concept from architect Peter Yeadon, is a robotic suitcase that follows you around on its own without you having to pick it up even. Once the bag's owner slips on a watch-like controller, the suitcase is under remote control, able to follow both passively over a wireless link, and to obey voice commands. The bag's wheels are each independently controlled for smooth travel in any direction, and laser sensors help it navigate rough terrain and avoid running over small children.

HDTV Game Black

Criterion's Black is a new release for Xbox and PS2, a shooter in the purest sense of the word. Don't worry about the story, complex enemy AI or online multiplayer here, just blow stuff up. Black is generally getting positive reviews, with the only weak points being the lack of multiplayer and short total gameplay(7-9 hours).

Ask.com launches Google-style maps

Ask.com has launched a brand new map and driving direction service that definitely takes more than one cue from Google Maps. In fact, its basic functionality works pretty much exactly like Google Maps'. You can click and drag the map and zoom just like with Google Maps and it has street, satellite, and hybrid ("mixed") views like we're accustomed to. Some more novel features, is the ability to specify several waypoints for multi-stop trips. Another is the "Play" button that will walk you through driving directions step by step. Ask.com's new maps also let you choose walking directions rather than driving.

You get the idea. And of course you can vote any link up or down, add your own links to any list, or create your own lists, though that'll require a user account.

2K to publish Top Cow's The Darkness

2K has announced they will publish a next gen shooter based on The Darkness property, partnering with Enclave developer Starbreeze. Not sure how this will work as a shooter. This is a cool looking character with a very animated costume (sort of like Spawn), so an envisioned third person perspective would be cool. Hopefully, we'll get some screen shots soon.
