fSekrit is neat app that will take text, encrypt it, and wraps it up into a neat little file that you can run off a USB drive. Essentially the program is the file, and the developer has had to get around that little Windows limitation: an exe can't save to itself. But it does work. More importantly, your data is pretty secure, as fSekrit uses 256-bit AES encryption.

The key word is "CableFree", this hub and dongle utilize UWB, or Ultra-wideband technology which in this case is USB speeds without wires. Belkin claims that this UWB implementation is 100 times faster than anemic Bluetooth, which makes it superb for kickin' out large datastreams through thin air. Each year shoe designer Stuart Weitzman creates one-of-a-kind shoes for the Oscars. This year he is using jewels that were once owned by Rita Hayworth to create a pair of jeweled shoes. Hayworth's daughter, Princess Yasmin Aga Khan has given Weitzman permission to use the jewels. The Oscar shoes and the actress who will wear them will be revealed on March 2. The shoes will be worth around $3 million and will be decorated with Hayworth's earrings. After the party, the shoes will be fitted with a replica of the jewels by Swarovski Crystals and will be auctioned March 6, the day after the Oscars, with proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association.

Japanese company EJK has developed a no-contact thermometer. Using infrared rays, the device is able to measure the subject’s body temperature in just 3 seconds to within 0.2 degrees centigrade. And because it’s contactless, the device is said to reduce the risk associated with the spread of disease possible when using traditional thermometers regardless of your, orifices. It will drop tomorrow for about $213.

This could point to something interesting; Romero hints that "This is not a typical games company and we're not making typical games", and reveals that the title has a lot of money behind it--with funding in the millions, and hints about how "special" the MMO is.

The idea is a tethered 35-foot rotors, floating 35,000 feet in the air and drawing endless power from the jetstream at a cost of less than 2 cents per kWh. Sky WindPower Corp. claims "an array of 600 FloatingElectric Generators rated at 20MW each, a total of twelve thousand megawatts in capacity, operating over a ground space of a ten by twenty mile rectangle, would produce approximately three times as many megawatt hours per year as the 28,572,902 MWh produced by the Palos Verde Arizona nuclear facility in the year 2003, the most electricity produced by a single generating plant in the U.S. that year."
Plans for Canadian and US installations are in the works.

Japanese company Keian has introduced the PSd (Personal Storage disk) -- a waterproof/dustproof/shockproof SD card that, like SanDisk before them, doubles-up as a portable USB drive. Keian claims maximum read and write speeds of 13.5MBps and 11MBps respectively, in capacities from 128MB ($31) to 2 gig ($213).

The device, called LikeAFish, lowers the pressure of seawater using a high-speed centrifuge. Oxygen is then separated from the water and stored in a bag for breathing. While the system may be a technical breakthrough, it needs a heavy-duty battery and water being processed can't be polluted or lacking in oxygen. For those reasons, developer Alon Bodner's focus is on underwater habitats, theorizing that they would already have a reliable energy source, and would be located in spots where the oxygen levels in the water are consistent.

US-based Unicon Systems' Linux-based MBridge is more than just another handheld PMP, it's "key to a complete computer free life." It features a 3.5-inch 320 x 240 TFT display capable of 262k colors, two USB 2.0 connectors, a USB On-The-Go, a SD slot, and a little 802.11b sprinkled in just for fun. The included software which they claim allows you to "chat in all messengers where you have an account," upload pictures to the likes of Shutterfly or MySpace "right off the camera," and use the MBridge as a data transfer device copying, browsing, and editing the files on your PSP, iPod, or digital camera "at any location, at any moment, in under a minute." They also claim to allow users to purchase music and download it direct to your MP3 player from "all major [on-line] music stores" minus iTunes. They claim the device will drop this October for $159.99.
